How to add Instaquote to your Wix site

This guide adds the Instaquote chat bubble to every page of your Wix site using Wix's Custom code setting. It takes three steps: copy your code, paste it once for all pages, and add your website's address to your Sites list.

What you need:

  • Your Instaquote console login
  • Access to your site's Wix dashboard
  • A Premium plan with your own domain connected (see below)

There's also an inline version of the code for a single page. This guide uses the floating bubble, which is what we recommend for Wix.

Before you start: check your Wix plan

Wix only runs custom code on a published site with a connected domain (like yourbusiness.com.au), and connecting a domain needs a Premium plan. A free site on a yourname.wixsite.com address can't run the code.

On a free Wix site? Upgrade to Premium and connect your own domain first.

Don't use Wix's Embed HTML element (Add Elements > Embed Code > Embed HTML). It puts the code in a sealed box (an iframe), and the chat bubble won't work in there. Use Custom code, as below.

Step 1: Copy your Instaquote code

  1. Log in to your Instaquote console.
  2. Go to Install & origins.
  3. Under How should it show on your site?, choose Chat bubble (recommended). It's the best fit for Wix.
  4. Click Copy code.

Your code is two short pieces: a <div> and a <script>. Paste it exactly as you copied it, without changing anything. It looks something like this:

HTML
<div id="instaquote" data-firm-id="YOUR_FIRM_ID" data-api-url="https://api.instaquoteai.app" data-mode="chat" data-locale="en-AU" data-environment="production" data-firm-name="Your Business" data-embed="bubble"></div>
<script src="https://widget.instaquoteai.app/v1/widget.js" defer></script>

Don't type it out. Your own code has your business details in it, so always use Copy code.

Step 2: Add it with Wix Custom code

  1. Go to your site's Wix dashboard (not the editor).
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Under Development & integrations, click Custom code.
  4. Click + Add Custom Code (top right).
  5. Paste your Instaquote code into the box.
  6. Name it something easy, like "Instaquote".
  7. Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages, and choose to load the code once (not on each new page).
  8. Under Place Code in, choose Body - end.
  9. Click Apply.

Why Body - end and load once? Body - end puts the code at the very end of the page, where it belongs (never in the header). Loading it once, on all pages, means it's on your site one time only. If the code ends up on a page more than once, the chat can load twice.

Step 3: Add your site to the Sites list

  1. In your Instaquote console, go to Install & origins.
  2. Check the Sites list for your site's address, exactly as people visit it (for example https://www.yourbusiness.com.au).
  3. If it's missing, go to Add a site, type the full address, then click Add site.

www and non-www are two different sites. If people can reach yours both ways, add both. Include the https:// part, and add each subdomain separately. New sites can take up to a minute to start working.

Check it's working

The chat won't show in the Wix editor or preview. Check your live site instead.

  1. Make sure your site is published.
  2. Wait about a minute.
  3. Open your live site in a private window (Incognito in Chrome, Private in Safari).
  4. Look for the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner.
  5. Click it and ask a test question, like "How much to repaint a bedroom?"

Troubleshooting

The bubble isn't showing

  • Are you checking the editor or preview? Use the live site in a private window.
  • Is your site on Premium with a connected domain? Free wixsite.com sites can't run the code.
  • Is your site's exact address on the Sites list? If it shows as Being blocked, click Add this site, wait a minute and reload.
  • Is the code set to All pages, load once, Body - end?
  • Did you use Embed HTML instead of Custom code? Delete the Embed HTML element and use the steps above.

The chat disappeared after I clicked between pages

Wix changes pages without fully reloading them. Refresh the page and the chat comes back. Using Chat bubble (recommended) and load once on All pages helps.

The chat vanished after I changed domains

Wix ties custom code to your domain. If you change your primary domain, Wix deletes the code. Add it again (Step 2), and add the new address to your Sites list (Step 3).

The chat shows twice

The code's on your site more than once. Check Custom code for duplicates and remove the extra copy.
